Are you looking for an alternative to power yoga?
'Breathe by Amy' offers the integration of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual processes. We incorporate movement with yoga, one-to-one facilitation, hands-on work, and verbal dialogue. At Breathe, we believe this work supports self exploration, injury rehabilitation and safety. We incorporate physical practices such as yoga, body movement and personal training.
Our approach is different because it incorporates SOMATIC experiencing, integrating not only a physical practice but addresses developmental challenges, psychological issues, and general curiosity into a body/mind connection.
Many yoga studios encourage only the physical aspect of yoga but at Breathe, the exploration from physical leads to an emotional and spiritual journey, with the intention of having inner peace, well-being, and a healing space to ground the spirit.

The word yoga means "union" in Sanskrit, the language of ancient India where yoga originated. We can think of the union occurring between the mind, body and spirit.
What is commonly referred to as "yoga" can be more accurately described by the Sanskrit word asana, which refers to the practice of physical postures or poses.
Asana is only one of the eight "limbs" of yoga, the majority of which are more concerned with mental and spiritual well-being than physical activity. In the West, however, the words asana and yoga are often used interchangeably.
Practicing any type of yoga will build strength, but studies show that yoga does not raise your heart rate enough to make it the only form of exercise you need. In order to lose weight, you must eat healthily and burn calories by doing exercise that raises your heart rate on a regular basis.
Some types of yoga, such as Iyengar, in which yoga poses are held for several minutes with a resting period between each pose, will build strength, tone muscles and improve your posture, but will not give you the cardiovascular workout you need to lose weight.
More vigorous yoga styles can provide a better workout, but a regular yoga practice has been shown to lower your metabolism, so if weight loss is your primary goal, you will want to combine yoga with running, walking or other aerobic exercise. That said, yoga can still help you lose weight by bringing you to a better understanding of your body, improving self image and sense of well-being, and encouraging a healthy
